With globalization, demand for logistics services will increase tremendously. There has been demand for better quality products and services. Many jobs in the areas of logistics and quality engineering/management will require specialized skills and knowledge. ISE graduates are equipped for jobs in these growing areas.
The curriculum is designed to make available three areas of specialization to match the demands of the Singapore economy. The modules, in particular the elective technical modules , if carefully selected by the students will enable them to focus in the following areas of specialization:
- Logistics and Systems Optimization (LSO)
- Quality Engineering and Management (QEM)
- Product Design (PD)
Subject to Head of ISE Department's approval, students may enroll in one of the above areas of specialization when they have completed a minimum of 100 MCs of the programme requirements.
To qualify for either LSO or QEM, a student must pass at least 2 modules from the chosen area of specialization and a Final Year Project with a topic relevant to the area of specialization.
To qualify for PD, a student has to satisfy the following criteria:

Obtained a CAP ≥ 3.5; |
| (ii) |
Pass at least 2 of the following modules: IE4230, IE5208, IE5211 and IE5301; and at least 1 ME modules |
| (iii) |
A Final Year Project which is related to Product Design. |
