Professor Goh Thong Ngee Received the William G. Hunter Award from the American Society for Quality
Professor Goh Thong Ngee of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department was named the 2007 recipient of the William G. Hunter Award. The award, established by the Statistics Division of the American Society for Quality in 1987 in honor of the division's founding chairman, is presented annually to encourage the creative development and application of statistical techniques to problem-solving in the quality field. This is the first time the award was given to a recipient from Asia.

About Professor T N Goh
Professor T N Goh, PE, holds a BE from the University of Saskatchewan and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Among the various positions he has held are Dean of NUS Faculty of Engineering and Head of Industrial and Systems Engineering Department. He a Fellow of the American Society for Quality and Academician, International Academy for Quality. He is Founder President, Institute of Industrial Engineers Singapore Chapter, and formerly President, Singapore Institute of Statistics as well as honorary Secretary, Operational Research Society of Singapore. Recent international awards and honours he has received include IEEE Engineering Management Society's "Educator of the Year" Award (2004) and International Academy for Quality's inaugural Walter E. Masing Book Prize (2006). Prof Goh is author or co-author of four books and more than a hundred research papers on subjects related to statistical methods in quality engineering.
