Professor Xie Min Elected IEEE Fellow

Just two months after Professor Goh Thong Ngee was given the IEEE Engineering Management Educator Award, another piece of good news arrived from IEEE The Board of Directors has elected Professor Xie Min an IEEE Fellow, effective 1 January 2006.

IEEE is the world's largest technical society. Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for one of the Institute's most prestigious honors. Less than one in one thousand members of the IEEE are elected to be IEEE Fellow.

Professor Xie is elected "for contributions to modeling and analysis of systems and software reliability". His book, "Software Reliability Modelling", was published in 1991. More recently, another book that he co-authored with YS Dai and KL Poh, "Computing Systems Reliability", was published in 2003. He also co-authored two other books, namely "Weibull Models" and "Stochastic Ageing and Dependence for Reliability". Professor Xie also serves on the editorial board of more than 10 international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Reliability . Professor Xie has also organized several international conferences, including 2004 IEEE Engineering Management Conference and the regular IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation and Technology. He has been an IEEE Member since 1988 and an IEEE senior member since 1994.

Congratulations to Professor Xie for this honour.
