Best Student Paper Award at AIWARM

At the 2008 Asian International Workshop on Advanced Reliability Modeling (AIWARM 2008) held on 23-25 Oct in Taichung, Taiwan, ISE PhD student Shen Yan was one of three recipients of Student Paper Award for her paper “Nonparametric estimation of decreasing MRL using type II censored data”.

AIWARM is a symposium for the dissemination of state-of-the-art research and its practice in the reliability engineering and related issues in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference covers all the key topics in reliability, maintainability, and safety engineering and provides an in-depth representation of theory and practice in these areas. This is third time the conference is held (previously held in Japan and Korea ).

Close to 100 papers were presented and the proceedings is publish in a book-volume by McGraw Hill. The conference was attended by Prof Xie Min, and former ISE student Dr Hu Qingpei (currently with Chinese Academy of Sciences). Two former ISE Research fellows, Prof Cui Lirong (currently with Beijing Institute of Technology) and Dr Zhang Tieling (currently with Vestas Technology R&D) also attended the conference.
