IE5203 Decison Analysis Application Term Paper

Objectives

To provide opportunity for you to apply the knowledge of decision analysis learnt in class to a real-world problem to arrive at informed decisions, and to communicate the findings via a report to the appropriate audience.

At least one pass through the DA Cycle (Chapter 8) is expected.

Schedule

Submission of 1-page Proposal via IVLE workbin:	~~Friday, 16 Oct 2009~~ (Extended to Monday 19 Oct 2009)
Submission of Reports (hardcopy):	Friday, 20 Nov 2009, 1700 hours
Computer files (Excel, DPL, EC, etc):	Submit via IVLE workbin by Friday, 20 Nov 2009, 2359 hours

The Proposal

The one-page proposal should contain at least the following information:

Your full name, matriculation number & email address
Title of term paper
Problem description
Possible alternatives
Major uncertainties
Sources of data/information
Software (if any) to be used

Please name your submitted file as [Your Real Name]-proposal.doc

The Final Report

The Report should contain at least the followings:

Cover Page
Executive Summary

Introduction and Problem Description
Framing & Formulation
Deterministic Analysis
Probabilistic Analysis
Model Appraisal
What-If / Scenario Analysis, Discussions
Conclusions
Appendixes

Softcopies of the decision models (submit via IVLE)
(please name the files after your name, do not use generic names like ie5203.doc, ie5203.da, termpaper.doc, etc.)
