Professor LC Tang won the RAMS 2011 Ralph A. Evans / P. K. McElroy Award for Best Paper

The paper entitled “Spare Provisioning for Repairable Systems under Fleet Expansion” by Professor LC Tang and his former PhD student, Dr Liu Xiao, has been selected for the RAMS 2011 Ralph A. Evans/P. K. McElroy Award for Best Paper. The Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium has been the premier conference in reliability engineering since 1954 with sponsorship from 9 professional societies including AIAA, ASQ, IEEE, IEST, IIE, SAE, SOLE, SRE and SSS. It is the first time that the award goes to an all Asian team with authors affiliated to an Asian University.

 

The Award which was renamed from P. K. McElroy Award to R. A. Evans – P. K. McElroy Award for Best Paper is selected based on two criteria:
The written paper is lucid, excellent and important to the theory and/or practice of R&M Engineering
The presentation of the paper at the Symposium is comparably lucid and excellent.

Professor Tang presented the paper at the 57th Annual RAMS held in Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Florida, USA in January 2011. The Plaque for the Evans-McElroy Award is accompanied by an honorarium of US$2000 which is equally shared by the 2 authors. They will be granted gratis registration for RAMS 2012 to be held in Reno, Nevada to receive the award plaque.
