ISE Department Launched New Bachelor of Technology Degree Programme

The ISE Department has launched a Bachelor of Technology programme in Industrial and Management Engineering or B.Tech (IME) in short. The first intake will be in Semester 1 of the 2007-08 Academic Year. This part-time programme is designed primarily for polytechnic graduates who are holding full-time jobs in the local industry. It caters to the educational aspirations of polytechnic graduates while meeting the demands of the Singapore economy.

The changing landscape of the economy from one characterized by stand alone industrial activities to one of integrated economic activities calls for professionals who can take a systems perspective. Our programme aims to equip graduates with such a perspective by drawing upon the scientific disciplines of mathematics, probability and statistics to properly understand and model the relevant worldview that will be effective in creating new systems and improving existing systems to achieve peak performance. Such exposure to core operating activities in the organization will serve as excellent foundations for the graduates to move to senior management levels in their career progression.

It is expected that the B.Tech (IME) graduates will be able to fit into any economic sector, be it manufacturing, service, financial, government or defense.

More information about the B.Tech (IME) programme can be obtained from
