The rain from the previous night cleared up to provide the perfect weather for meeting up with old friends. The classes of 2001 to 2004 came together for the first ISE Alumni Brunch hosted by the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Staff Club on Saturday, 20 November 2004.
The alumni were happy to see old friends and faculty members. They exchanged “how-do-you-dos” and name cards, as they updated each one an other with on their busy lives.
The Department also updated the alumni on the latest services available to them such as the new ISE Alumni Website and e-newsletter, and as well as other developments of the Faculty of Engineering Alumni and the NUS Alumni. The u U niversity and f F aculty are working towards providing the alumni life-long personalized e-mail accounts , and with the Centennial celebrations around the corner, more highlights and privileges are expected.
Chairman of ISE Alumni and Deputy Head (Admin), Associate Professor POH Kim Leng, urged the alumni to get more involved by initiating and organizing events, contributing ideas and articles to the ISE Alumni Website and e-newsletter, and also to pull in other alumni to join in future activities.
Other more formal involvements could include participation in the Undergraduate Program 's Final Year Project and System s Design Project, where organizations may provide the Department with real-life industrial problems for our students to work on. They may also propose research collaborations between their organizations and the ISE Department.
