It was an extraordinary experience for one of the ISE Department PhD students, Tang Xin-yan, when she was sponsored by the Department to attend the second International Conference on the Control of Industrial Processes held in Newcastle, U.K., early this year. She not only had the opportunity to present her technical paper, exchanging her research results with a number of leading researchers, she was also invited as honorary guest at the conference dinner hosted by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Newcastle at the Civic Centre (see photo).
