Abstract
Recently Samsung became one of the most promising companies in the world. The Samsung’s business strategy to be a company of quality and business excellence is revealed. Samsung has adopted Six Sigma for its management strategy, and it has been successful. In particular, Samsung’s DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) is unique. In this talk the contents of Samsung’s DFSS are discussed. Samsung’s DFSS consists of 3T and usual DFSS, where 3T implies technology roadmap, technology tree and TRIZ. Also the cycle of DMADOV which is used in Samsung’s DFSS is explained in detail.
Biography
Professor Sung H. Park graduated in Chemical Engineering from Seoul National University (SNU) in 1968. He received his master in industrial engineering and PhD in statistics from North Carolina State University, in 1972 and 1975, respectively. He was a faculty member at School of Business, Mississippi State University before joining SNU in 1977. He was Dean of College of Natural Sciences, SNU, 1995-1997 and currently serves as Chairman of Faculty Senate at SNU. He served as President of Korean Society for Statistics and President of Korean Society for Quality Management. He is an author of many papers and several books, including Six Sigma for Quality and Productivity Promotion, Robust Design and Analysis for Quality Engineering, and Statistical Process Monitoring and Optimization.
